A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the Aleutian Islands stretching between the US state of Alaska and Russia on Thursday, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The epicentre of the earthquake was 137 kilometres (85 miles) northwest of Attu Island, which hosts a small US Coast Guard station staffed by around 15 people, and 407 kilometres (253 miles) from Russia.
There were no immediate reports of any injuries or damage.
