The incident took place in Diyala province's Himreen, 110 km from the capital Baghdad, a source from the provincial operations command told Xinhua.

In another incident, three civilians were wounded when a roadside bomb went off outside a house in Abbarah near Diyala capital Baquba, 65 km from Baghdad, the source said.

Diyala, which stretches from the eastern edges of Baghdad to the Iranian border, has long been a stronghold for al Qaeda militants and other groups.
