In the message, commander Abu Hurira al-Sanani warns President Ali Abdullah Saleh to “get away” because his fighters are “liberating territories from crusaders and apostate traitors.” He says Saleh will meet the same destiny as Pakistan's Pervez Musharraf, who stepped down in 2008 amid protests and under threat of impeachment.
Al Qaeda has built up many strongholds across the largely lawless Yemen.
