Nearly 4.9 million people infected with HIV/AIDS live in the Asia-Pacific region, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said.

And more than 95 per cent of those infected live in Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and Vietnam, WHO said in a report Monday.
People more prone to HIV infection are drug addicts, prostitutes and their customers, Indonesian Health Minister Siti Padilah Sufari said at the ninth International Congress on HIV/AIDS that began Aug 9 in Bali Island. Most of the cases have had no access to the anti-retroviral therapy.
