Egyptian protesters on Saturday attacked the state security headquarters in the border town of Rafah, in clashes that killed three policemen, witnesses said.

Bedouin protesters lobbed hand grenades at the building, which was on the verge of collapse, witnesses said, during clashes in which police fired at the protesters with live rounds.

The nearby Rafah terminal crossing, which leads to the Gaza Strip, was under the protection of Egyptian border guards, they said.
