Quake hits Papua New Guinea

An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale on Sunday jolted the New Britain region of Papua New Guinea but there was no immediate report of damage or casualties, Xinhua reported.

An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale on Sunday jolted the New Britain region of Papua New Guinea but there was no immediate report of damage or casualties, Xinhua reported.

The tremor occurred at 13:04 GMT, the Hong Kong Observatory said. The epicentre was 5.7 degrees south latitude and 151.1 degrees east longitude, some 600 km northeast of Port Moresby, the capital and largest city of Papua New Guinea.
