The Italian vessel Gelso M hit the reefs near the shore "probably due to bad weather", the coast guard said. Its crew members were evacuated by helicopters, reports Xinhua.

The engine room of the vessel was flooded but there was no leakage of fuel. The environment ministry was monitoring the situation to reduce the risk of pollution.
