Strong earthquake strikes south of Fiji

A strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake has struck in waters south of Fiji. There are no immediate reports of injuries or damage and no tsunami warning has been issued.

A strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake has struck in waters south of Fiji. There are no immediate reports of injuries or damage and no tsunami warning has been issued.

The US Geological Survey says the quake struck today 883 kilometers south of the capital Suva, at a depth of 540 kilometers.

Earthquakes are common in the South Pacific.
