Two quakes jolt Japan's Honshu island

Two quakes struck Honshu island in Japan on Saturday and one of them was felt strongly in Tokyo, Xinhua reported.

Two quakes struck Honshu island in Japan on Saturday and one of them was felt strongly in Tokyo, Xinhua reported.

The temblor measuring 6 on the Richter scale hit the island at 10.19 am local time, the China Earthquake Networks Center was quoted as saying.

Another 5.9 magnitude quake jolted Kanto region on the southeastern part of the island, said the Japan Meteorological Agency. The quake, which occurred at 11.19 a.m. local time with its focus in Tochiigi prefecture, was felt strongly in Tokyo.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to properties. No tsunami warning was issued.

Japan saw a 9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami March 11 that caused heavy damage to life and property.
