United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged Israel on Friday to hold its fire unilaterally in the Gaza Strip.

"It is time now to even think about a unilateral ceasefire by the Israeli government," Ban told a news conference in Ramallah with Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
Ban also repeated that he believed a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas could be achieved in the next few days.
