US diplomat found dead in Cyprus

Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation says Tom Mooney had been found dead in a remote area near Nicosi and that police were at the scene.

The US embassy staff member in Cyprus, missing for four days, has been found dead in a remote part of the Mediterranean island, state radio reported on Monday.

The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation said Tom Mooney had been found dead in a remote area near Nicosi and that police were at the scene.

"Someone has been found dead and police have gone to the area to confirm and identify the body," a police spokesman said.

The 45-year-old diplomat, who is married with children, was last seen leaving the US embassy around midday on Thursday.
