Former Haryana CM Master Hukam Singh passes away

Former chief minister of Haryana Master Hukam Singh passed away after battling a brief illness at a private hospital in Gurgaon on Thursday.

At 89, Singh was facing breathing problems and was admitted at PGI Rohtak since February 12. He was referred to Medanta- the Medicity on Wednesday after his condition worsened. He breathed his last at 6pm.

Master Hukam Singh remained the Chief Minister of the State in 1990-91. He has been elected MLA thrice from Charkhi Dadri before 1990.

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has expressed grief over the demise of the former Chief Minister describing him as a seasoned politician who always worked for the uplift of the weak and downtrodden.

The state government has also declared three day state mourning from February 26 to February 28. During this period of state mourning the flag will be flown at half mast on all buildings where it is flown regularly. There would be no official entertainment during this period.

The government has also declared February 27, Friday, as public holiday in all state government offices and educational institutions as mark of respect. February 27 will also be observed as holiday under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881.

Meanwhile, the sports minister Anil Vij’s event in Gurgaon on Friday to promote sports in the state has also been cancelled.
