Ryan Reynolds crashed Hugh Jackman’s interview, made fun of Wolverine
Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds crashed a press junket for Hugh Jackman’s new film Eddie the Eagle and made a lot of fun of Wolverine.
Those of you who’ve seen Ryan Reynolds’ fantastic new superhero movie Deadpool would’ve noticed that the title character didn’t shy away from making fun of his home studio 20th Century Fox and the ‘bigger’ characters and stars in its employ. Reynolds crashed a recent press junket for Hugh Jackman’s new movie Eddie the Eagle and proceeded to continue what he started in Deadpool. Be warned, there will be spoilers ahead.

The video is a funny, no-hold-barred interaction between two of the industry’s biggest stars. Reynolds is hot right now after the global success of Deadpool, a movie that had a lot of quirky observations about Wolverine and the X-Men. Initial reports even suggested a cameo by Marvel’s most famous mutant. Although that didn’t pan out, this video more than makes up for it. Reynolds and Jackman waste no time in addressing the elephant in the room, namely X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

It’s no secret that X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a failure. Not only did it fail to gain much traction at the box office, it also attracted harsh criticism with regards how it treated its characters. And the character who got it the worst was Deadpool. There’s a reason why he’s called the Merc With a Mouth: It’s because he’s a self-aware wise cracking lunatic. And guess what they did in Origins? They sewed his mouth shut and made him a brainless robotic warrior.

Following the success of Deadpool, Fox announced its plan to make the new Wolverine movie R-rated. No doubt they also want Ryan Reynolds to make a cameo. Oh how the tables have turned.
