In a bizarre case, police booked two minors, aged four and six, on charges of attempt to murder and molestation.

The case, which is over two months’ old, came to light on Friday when Savitri met senior police officials to plead that her children were innocent.

Gorakhpur SSP Ram Lal Verma summoned the officer who had filed the report.

“It has come to my knowledge that two minor children have been falsely implicated in a case. An inquiry has been ordered to find out how the name of minors figured in the FIR. The prosecution side has reportedly misguided the court and got the name of the children added in the FIR,” said IG Mohit Aggarwal. He said the name of two children would be removed from the FIR.

On March 13, Sateesh, a driver, his wife Savitri and one Vikas had a tiff with the former’s relatives Nirmala Devi and her minor daughter Rashmi (name changed).

Savitri’s sons were also present on the spot who allegedly hurled stones in the direction of the front door of Nirmala Devi’s house.

Rashmi sustained injuries during the clash after which her mother tried to lodge a complaint with local police accusing Vikas, Sateesh and his family members of assault and attempt to outrage the modesty of her juvenile daughter.

When police refused to lodge an FIR, she moved the court. Allegedly misled by the prosecution, the court directed police to register a case. An FIR against Vikas, Savitri and their children were filed under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 324, 354, 354(A), 504 and 506 of the IPC.
