Nine labourers were killed after a slab collapsed at a construction site in Pune’s Balewadi area collapsed on Friday morning.

The mishap took place 10.30am when around 15 labourers were working on the fourteenth floor of the under-construction housing complex known as Park Express (ANI Photo)

A rescue operation was launched, and the fire brigade, ambulances and a medical team were pressed into service.

Police said eight bodies were recovered from the site, while a labourer died on his way to hospital.

Pune Mayor Prashant Jagtap, along with civic officials, was supervising the rescue operations.

The mishap took place 10.30am when around 15 labourers were working on the fourteenth floor of the under-construction housing complex known as Park Express.

Police and civic officials were looking whether any negligence resulted into the mishap.
