Dombivli thieves break into six cars, steal stereo systems worth ₹61,000

Thieves broke into six cars and stole stereo systems and cash from each between 12am and 6am near Hardkar Hospital at Ramchandra Nagar in Tilak Nagar, Dombivli on Thursday. Police said the stereo systems were collectively worth Rs61,000.

The incident came to light when one of the car owners leaving for work saw that not only his car, but several nearby had been broken into. The other car owners were alerted.

While four of the cars come under the jurisdiction of the Tilak Nagar police, two come under the Manpada police.

The Tilak Nagar police examined CCTV camera footage and said three to four people committed the theft.They have detained two history sheeters and suspect that two minors were also involved.

“We have detained two history-sheeters. They are being questioned. We suspect that the accused are locals and committed the crime to earn easy money. We have received information that minors were involved but have yet to confirm this. Investigations are ongoing,” said senior police inspector, S Dhumal, Tilak Nagar police station.
