Inconsolable relatives of those trapped in the rubble seen near Suffian Chowk in Ludhiana on Tuesday. On Tuesday, chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh had announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the dead. (PTI)

The Punjab Police on Wednesday arrested Inderjit Singh Gola, the owner of Gola Plastic Factory, after police added culpable homicide not amounting to murder charge against him. The wait is harrowing for the families of trapped firemen Sukhdev, Manohar Lal and Manpreet Singh. “We have heard of miracles. The rescue operation by a team of the 7th battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) continued on fourth day yesterday. NDRF squad leader Deepak Kumar said he could not say at this point how many more days the rescue operations would continue. (PTI)
