Mangala Gaur: Time for worship, fun and games
A newly wed woman performs the Mangala Gauri puja at Borivli on Sunday. The vrat is observed on every Tuesday of the Hindu month of Shravan and is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. Newly wed women fast through the day and perform an arti in the evening with other women from the family and neighbourhood. Traditionally, after the puja, women perform mangalagauriche khel -- which involves singing, dancing, physical activities and games such as jhimma and fugadi. (Pratham Gokhale/HT PHOTO)
