Patiala: Sports ministry to spend Rs 14 crore on NIS facelift

The Union sports ministry will spend Rs 14.5 crore on renovation and creating new sports infrastructure at National Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala.

Director-general, Sports Authority of India (SAI) Injeti Srinivas said this after inaugurating an indoor volleyball hall constructed at a cost of Rs 5 crore on the NIS campus.

Meanwhile a ‘International Conclave for Coaching Framework’ organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in collaboration with the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE) was held at NIS in Patiala from 31 March to April 4.

The conclave focused at the betterment of Indian sports coaching framework as per International standards and revamping of the sports coaching system and coach qualifications.

Badminton legend Pullela Gopichand and Dronacharaya and Arjuna awardees were present.
