In the age of paintings where the masters fetch obscene amounts of money, Art Intaglio and Hacienda Gallery have made this luxury possible and accessible with their latest exhibition of print outs of the artrists' works.

In the age of paintings where the masters fetch obscene amounts of money, is it possible for the common man to own such art? Art Intaglio and Hacienda Gallery have made this luxury possible and accessible with their latest exhibition.

"In the past decade, the prices of original paints have shot up, and these works are beyond the reach of most people. So to enjoy their good work, we have come out with limited edition prints, which are made in co-operation with the artists," explains Dilip Ghevaria, design CEO of Art Intaglio.

The sale is currently on in the city, in its second annual outing. "Last year, the response was great. The show was a complete sell-out," says Ghevaria adding, "People have a misconception that paintings are only appreciated in value over time. But this holds true with prints as well."

SH Raza, MF Husain, Paresh Maity and Jehangir Sabavala are among the featured artists. Each print is numbered and personally signed by the artist, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The quality of acid free archival paper and inks ensures that the print will last for at least 100 years. While Raza’s paintings are the most expensive, those by upcoming artists like Rahim Mirza are available at a steal.

The exhibit can be viewed and purchased at Hacienda Art Gallery, Kala Ghoda till January 21. Call 22837232.
