A woman attacked a man’s private parts with a knife as he allegedly attempted to rape her in MP’s Umaria district’s Manpur area, police said.

A woman attacked a man’s private parts with a knife as he allegedly attempted to rape her in MP’s Umaria district’s Manpur area, police said. A case was registered against the accused on Monday.

On Saturday night, Tirath Prajapti, 28, a distant relative of the victim’s husband, allegedly tried to rape the 30-year-old woman after sending her husband away to buy liquor.

The woman attacked Prajapati with a knife and inflicted serious wounds on his private part in an attempt to save herself, police said. Earlier, Prajapati tried to mislead the police and lodged an FIR against the couple accusing them of murderous assault.

Manpur police station in-charge SS Mishra said while the couple had been released on bail, Prajapati had been booked on charges of trespassing and molestation under relevant sections of IPC. The accused is undergoing treatment at Manpur hospital in Umaria, he said.

This is the second such incident in the state in a month. On February 11, a married woman had cut off her brother-in-law’s penis and handed it to police, claiming he had sexually assaulted her in Sidhi district.
