The Special Task Force (STF) investigating the Professional Examination Board (PEB) scam and Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed by the high court to monitor STF investigation, presented their respective reports to the court on Tuesday.
This comes amid speculations of grave differences between the two over lodging of FIR against some influential persons, whose names figure in the excel sheet recovered from the computer of former PEB principal analyst Nitin Mahindra.
SIT had lodged a complaint with the HC in this regard following which STF was asked by the court to respond as to why it was not complying with the SIT directives.
The 74-page response received from the STF was not found satisfactory by the HC double bench of chief justice Justice AM Khanwilkar and justice Alok Aradhe.
The STF chief Sudhir Sahi was asked to explain the task force’s position vis-a-vis non-compliance of SIT’s directives.
The court, in the light of these reports, will pass an order on Wednesday.
“Both SIT and STF presented their report today, which would be taken up tomorrow and court in the light of those reports will pass an order for them to follow. I filed a letter which the STF had written to SIT. Contents of reports are confidential as of now,” said additional advocate general Purushendra Kaurav while talking to HT from Jabalpur.
Ex-minister Laxmikant sent to jail
Former minister Laxmikant Sharma and his then officer on special duty (OSD) OP Shukla were produced before the court on expiry of their police remand on Tuesday and sent to jail on judicial custody.
However, OP Shukla was admitted to jail ward of Hamidia Hospital as his health condition was not good.
They were arrested by special task force (STF) in connection with their alleged role in Data entry and Computer Operators Recruitment scam.
STF sources said that Sharma, during the course of interrogation, had refused his role in the scam, saying that Shukla might have recommended the candidates by using his name.
The written exam for 387 posts of Data Entry and Computer Operators-2013 in various departments was held by MPPEB on May 5 in year 2013.
