She made her Bollywood debut with the 2011 dud Teen They Bhai. Since then, Govinda’s niece, Ragini Khanna, has not been offered any Bollywood films.

But the latest news is that she will soon star in the first Punjabi venture to be made by Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi’s production company, Grazing Goat Pictures.

AkshayThe actor, best known for her role as Suhana in the TV show Sasural Gendha Phool, joins an ensemble cast that includes Punjabi actors Gippy Grewal and Gurpreet Ghuggi and Om Puri among others for this film titled Ba Ji In Problem.

Confirming the news, Ashvini says, "We are delighted that Ragini has joined our cast. She is a breath of fresh air and a well-known figure amongst Indians settled abroad. She will help the film reach out to a much larger audience."

Though shooting for the film is already in-progress, Ragini will join the team on February 20 in Chandigarh.

"I am excited about the fact that Akshayji is producing it. I have been offered Punjabi films in the past too, but none of them were this exciting. This script is absolutely hilarious. It made me want to be part of the film," says Ragini.

Ask why she is choosing a regional film so early in her career, and she explains, "Work is work. Half the heroines in Bollywood today are from the south. Don’t forget one of my favorites, Sriji (Sridevi), also came from south India," she says.

Interestingly, cricketer Harbhajan Singh will also make a cameo appearance in this film. Though details of his role are yet to be revealed, rumours suggest that he will be playing himself in the film.
