Bela Sehgal plans to direct period drama

Her brother, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for working around larger than life sets, and now Bela Sehgal, who made her directorial debut with a comedy film, plans to helm a period drama.

Her brother, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for working around larger than life sets, and now Bela Sehgal, who made her directorial debut with a comedy film, plans to helm a period drama.

"I have two to three subjects in my mind and I need to pick up one of it. Most probably my next film would be a period drama," Sehgal told IANS.

"It will be a serious film which will have a lot of depth in it. It will also have humour in its own way," she added.

The editor-turned-director who made the 2012 movie, Shirid Farhan Ki Toh Nikal Padi, agrees that she has a similar bent of mind as her brother, who is credited with movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Guzaarish.

"He is my brother and we have been brought up together. We both think alike in many ways. I love (the genre of) period drama and it will be different from other films," she said.

Sehgal said she will start scripting the project towards end of June, but added: "You never know I might end up making a romantic comedy again".
