Cast of Lipstick Under My Burkha raises fingers, asks you to do it too in new campaign
The new campaign for the Lipstick Under My Burkha, an upcoming film which delves into the secret lives of four women being told to suppress their sexuality, is called #LipstickRebellion.

Balaji Motion Pictures has found a great way to promote their upcoming film, Lipstick Under My Burkha.
Lead actors from the film, Ratna Pathak Shah, Konkana Sen Sharma, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur, have posted pictures of themselves on Instagram in which they show their middle finger to the world, holding a lipstick behind it, just like the film’s new poster.
The new campaign for the film is called #LipstickRebellion. The Instagram page for Balaji is asking on women and men to recreate the post and share their selfies with them. Quite a few entries have already piled up:
Directors Ekta Kapoor and Zoya Akhtar also shared their selfies:
Lipstick Under My Burkha was embroiled in a long controversy with the Central Bureau of Film Certification and its chief, Pahlaj Nihalani, who refused to give a certificate to the film owing to its ‘lady oriented’ content, ‘abusive words’ and ‘audio pornography”.
Later, the film’s director, Alankrita Shrivastava, moved The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) against the decision. Trashing the censor board’s arguments, the FCAT ordered that the film be granted an ‘A’ certificate with “voluntary and some additional cuts and deletions”. It also asked the filmmakers to reduce the duration of sex scenes.
The film releases on July 21.
