Shops in the city are big on Ooh La La kites for August 15, with Vidya Balan as Silk Smitha striking a pose from the lascivious song and successfully seducing buyers to make it the bestselling design this year.

“Yeh Ooh La La waali patange sabse zyaada bik rahiin hain iss baar... Vidya Balan-ji waali (Ooh La La kites with Vidya Balan are the top sellers this season),” says Mohammad Ahmad from Haji Kite House in Lal Kuan, Chandni Chowk. “These are being bought by retailers and individual customers as well,” says Kallu Bhai of Kallu Bhai Patang Wale, a wholesale dealer in Old Delhi. Priced at Rs 4 onwards in different sizes, other shops also declare it a clear winner, with Salman Khan in Ek Tha Tiger being the number two and Kat next on the hot list.

“After Ooh La La, the two hottest sellers are Katrina Kaif from the song Masha Allah and Salman Bhai. Other popular celebrity designs are Sachin Tendulkar and Ajay Devgn,” says M Shahid from Shahid Kite Center in Lal Kuan.

Enthusiasts say they pick what clicks. “Vidya was superhot in the film, and we bet voh sabki patang kaat degi,” says Mudit Sehgal, 21.
