Freida Pinto is shooting in Mumbai for the first time since 2011
Freida Pinto, who last shot in the city for a film in 2011, is here to work on a new movie on human trafficking.
After shooting for Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and Trishna (2011) in Mumbai, Freida Pinto is back in the city to shoot for her next: Love, Sonia. Apparently, the actor has been here for a few days, and has started shooting for the directorial debut of Tabrez Noorani (the Indian line producer of Slumdog Millionaire). The feature film is about a young Indian girl, whose life changes when she gets trapped in the vicious global sex trade network. It also stars Mrunal Thakur, Manoj Bajpayee and Richa Chadha, among others.

“Freida flew here straight from Cannes. She doesn’t have a big role in the film, but it is an important one. She has shared a special equation with Tabrez ever since they worked on Slumdog Millionaire. She only needs to shoot for a few days,” says an insider.

Interestingly, the actor has also signed director Katia Lund’s (City Of God; 2002) short film, which is being made by a non-profit film production initiative (called We Do It Together) that’s dedicated to generating female-driven content. In fact, Katia, and Freida were at the Cannes Film Festival to promote the same initiative.
Meanwhile, Freida was spotted at a five-star hotel in Bandra (W) a few days back. “She went largely unrecognised, as she was dressed in gym wear. Freida has quite a packed schedule in the city,” adds the insider.
