Hello Priyanka! Foreign media fails to recognise Deepika Padukone yet again
Deepika Padukone was confused for Priyanka Chopra at the Los Angeles Airport recently by a popular YouTube channel that chases celebrities.bollywood Updated: Mar 07, 2017 11:13 IST
While people here in India have always been comparing Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra’s stint in the West, media there mistakes their identity sometimes.
A video, surfaced on social media, saw some local media outside Los Angeles airport confusing Deepika to be Priyanka, as she stepped out.
Deepika, however, did not respond to the greetings ‘Hello Priyanka’ and continued walking towards her car.
On a related note, this is not the first time that the Piku star was referred to as the Quantico actor, in the west. This once happened earlier during the promotions of xXx: Return of Xander Cage as well. Before that, the same YouTube channel made a similar error when they posted a video of Deepika arriving at the Los Angeles airport but wrote ‘Priyanka Chopra’ is the video title.
They later changed the title but did not make corrections to the description which still read ‘Chopra’.
In March 2016, UK tabloid Daily Mail had no idea who Deepika was when they posted a picture of her out for dinner with tennis star Novak Djokovic in LA. The tabloid mentioned Deepika merely as a ‘female companion’ of Novak.
The report said, “The world number one tennis player appeared to have had a great night as he was pictured exiting the bar - popular among LA’s A-lister set - in the dark hours of the evening with a female companion. While he kept it casual, she appeared to have made more of an effort in sartorial terms, favouring a timeless monochrome colour theme. The leggy brunette slipped her towering figure into a flirty frock which was decorated with a statement floral print and skimmed her knees.”
