After making a mark in films down south, Shruti Haasan has now trained her focus towards Bollywood. She claims, “People think my focus is more on southern films than Hindi but I believe I am concentrating on Indian cinema. I am picky and I want to portray interesting characters, like I did in Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji (2011). I got promising roles down south, so I took them up,” she explains, adding that she is waiting for good scripts. When asked if she’s been judged on her looks, she says, “I don’t take comments on my looks seriously.

I grew up as a gawky teenager and was a sweaty athlete and a tomboy for most of my life. For me, talent is a more important criterion. Today when people say I am good looking, I take it as a huge compliment.” But Shruti knows the importance of working alongside good looking co-stars. Does hottie Ranbir Kapoor make her list? “Ranbir is a cute and talented actor so I would definitely love to work with him,” she says.

Right now, the actor is excited about playing herself in an episode of MTV’s new show, Rush, directed by Bejoy Nambiar. The leggy lass is focusing on music for the moment. “Though I am reading some scripts for Hindi and southern films, I am excited about learning the guitar right now,” she says. Shruti is learning to play the guitar on her own and plans to hire a teacher once she gets the hang of it.

“It’s a common misconception that I play the guitar when actually I play the piano. I want to do some music before I start a new film. With my Telugu film Gabbar Singh being a huge hit, this is a crazy time to pick new projects,” she says.
