I went nude in my debut film, says Ranbir Kapoor at Sanju trailer launch
Ranbir Kapoor is playing Sanjay Dutt in a biopic on the troubled Bollywood star. The film is directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
Ranbir Kapoor is receiving accolades for his looks and performance in Sanju, a biopic on Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt. He said that a thumbs up from Sanjay Dutt himself matters a lot to him.
While speaking at the trailer launch of Sanju on May 30, he said, “I used to have Sanju sir’s poster on the wall of my cupboard, and today in front of you, I am looking at you and trying to represent him. I know I can never be the man he is but in every which way I go about my career I really want him to like me.”
In the trailer, Ranbir is seen going nude in an emotionally charged scene. He talked about it as well. Ranbir said, “Main toh pehli film se nude chala gaya tha jab mera towel gir gaya tha (I went nude in my first film when my towel fell). I am very shy in real life, but not when the camera is on. I am portraying a character so you have to be nude, emotionally and physically.”
Ranbir debuted in Bollywood with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Saawariya (2007). He was paired with Sonam Kapoor in the film. The two are returning together in Sanju after a gap of 11 years.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Sanju also stars Anushka Sharma, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Dia Mirza, Karishma Tanna, Jim Sarbh and Boman Irani in lead roles.
Sanju will hit the screens on June 29, 2018.
