From Hollywood legend Alfred Hitchcock to Indian directors Subhash Ghai and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra — film-makers are known to play bit roles in the movies they direct. But now, Punit Malhotra seems to have gone a bit further. He stepped in as actor Imran Khan’s body double for a shot in his upcoming directorial venture, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.

A source close to the production house reveals, “He stepped in for a shot in one scene that required Imran to drop Shraddha Kapoor (she plays Imran’s fiancée) home in a car. Since the crew was filming on the street, a large crowd had gathered to see the star, and the shoot was getting disrupted.” That’s when the team decided to use Punit as a body double.

Ask the I Hate Luv Storys (2010) director about this and he laughs, saying, “It’s such a small shot that no one will ever catch it. It’s just a driving scene, for which we needed some shots over Imran’s shoulder keeping Shraddha in focus. The crowd was going mad seeing Imran, so we decided to replace him and I sat in his place.”

Also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, this film will be her second outing with Imran after Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012).
