Hirokazu Koreeda's film, which opened at the top of the box office in Japan last month, has been picked up for a US remake by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, Contactmusic reported.

Ben Ratner's Down River was named Most Popular Canadian feature at the film festival, while Haifaa Al Mansour's Wadjda, claimed the title of Most Popular First Feature.
