Kangana Ranaut shoots for Manikarnika in Jaipur and leaked pictures from the sets have made their way onto the internet.

Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, who was last seen in Hansal Mehta’s Simran, has started working on her next ambitious project - Manikarnika. Recent pictures that surfaced online show Kangana on the sets of Manikarnika in Jaipur and she looks every bit an elegant queen. The film also features Sonu Sood, Vaibhav Tatwawdi and Ankita Lokhande.

Kangana reached Jaipur on October 24 and began shooting for Manikarnika. Talking at the poster launch of the film in Varanasi in May,Kangana had said, “I’m so blessed to be here. With the blessings of Lord Shiva, we have launched it here. After coming on board for this project, I feel like I’ve achieved something very big in my life.”

The film was recently mired in controversies. Around the poster launch of Manikarnika, filmmaker Ketan Mehta, who was originally supposed to direct the film, had alleged that Kangana ‘hijacked’ the project.

“This is regarding my project called Rani of Jhansi: The Warrior Queen and her (Kangana’s) attempt and the producer Kamal Jain at hijacking the project. Since 2015, I was in contact with Kangana for the project. I was sharing research material and several drafts of the script with Kangana and she was actively participating. My legal notice says how we have worked on the project for two years and how all of a sudden everything happened. We have asked for the film (Manikarnika) to stop as we plan to go ahead with our project (Ketan’s film),” he had told Hindustan Times.

Laxmibai, whose maiden name was Manikarnika, was born in Varanasi in 1828 to a Brahmin family.

To be directed by Krish, Manikranika will hit the theatres on April 27, 2018.
