Karan Johar pokes fun at Alia Bhatt’s and his matching outfits, says they are ‘cut from the same cloth’
Karan Johar knows how to poke fun at himself and misses no opportunity at doing so. Check out how he mocked Alia Bhatt’s and his matching outfits at Akash Ambani’s wedding on Saturday.
Actor Alia Bhatt has often said that she considers filmmaker Karan Johar her mentor in Bollywood. Not only is he protective about her but she has also featured in a number of his films. Alia often posted pics with Karan’s twins, taking on the role of an elder sister. But now, it looks like the two even think alike.

For Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s wedding in Mumbai, not only did they turn up in bright yellow, they even wore clothes made by the same designer and from the same fabric! Sharing a picture of them together, Karan wrote how their clothes were quite literally “cut from the same cloth”. The two wore Sabyasachi outfits to the wedding.
Alia looked stunning in the lehenga choli while Karan wore a chudidar and kurta. In the many videos from the function, Karan can be seen having a gala time. In one particular video, Karan and Hardik Pandya can be seen dancing as baraatis (groom’s pals).
Akash’s wedding saw some of the biggest names from the industry turn up at the do: Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan, Alia, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra.
The wedding, which took place at the Jio World Centre, saw many international dignitaries attend, including former British PM Tony Blair and his wife Cherie Blair and former United Nations secretary-general, Ban Ki-Moon.
Cricketers Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Sachin Tendulkar with their respective spouses; actors Sagarika Ghatge, Geeta Basra and Dr Anjali Tendulkar also attended the function.
