Actor Renuka Shahane, whose debut directorial venture, Rita, released in 2009, says she is looking forward to direct more films. She also talks about working with Madhuri Dixit, again.Updated: May 01, 2018 17:24 IST
Actor Renuka Shahane, who turned director with the Marathi film Rita (2009), starring Pallavi Joshi, Jackie Shroff, Mohan Agashe, Makarand Deshpande, among others, wants to direct her next film soon.
“The experience of directing Rita is something I can’t describe in words. It was my first film and everything about it was special. I also played a role in the film,” says Renuka.
The actor adds that she’s at a stage where she wants to direct and write a lot. “That does not mean acting takes a back seat but, yes, I enjoy direction. I want to make a Hindi film now. There are a few ideas in mind; let’s see if I can take [any] thing ahead. Right now, I’m actually busy with my children. The elder one (Shouryaman) is in class 11 and the younger one (Satyendra) is in class 9. So, I have to balance everything and I’m ready to do that,” says Renuka.
Last seen in Arjun Mukerjee’s 3 Storeys, Renuka is looking forward to the release of her next Marathi film, Bucket List, which reunites her with her Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994) co-star, Madhuri Dixit, after 24 years. “It’s always wonderful to work with Madhuri. She has not changed over the years and is supportive as a co-star. We have known each other for long and share a great bond,” she beams.
Besides sharing screen with Madhuri, Renuka “would love to direct her one day”. “Madhuri is a great actor; directing her would be no less than fabulous. Her expressions, smile, dancing skills... Madhuri is like all-in-one,” she says.
