My family is more excited than me about Furious 7: Ali Fazal

Bagging a role in a Hollywood film — the seventh instalment of a noted action franchise — is no mean feat. And even though actor Ali Fazal is underplaying his international debut, his family and friends have no such intentions.

Recently, the trailer of the latest part of the Fast And Furious franchise was launched. Within a few hours of it appearing online, Ali started getting phone calls from his parents, friends and other family members, who were all thrilled with the promo and looking forward to watching the film.

“Perhaps my family and friends are more excited than even I am,” says Ali, laughing. The actor goes on to admit, “They were also expecting to see me in the trailer, but just watching my name appear alongside these Hollywood bigwigs’ gives them a kick that can never be explained. It’s a nice feeling.”

Incidentally, Ali reveals that he never watches his own films. But since he has always been a fan of this action franchise, he will end up watching it for more than just his own performance. “Yes, I have never seen any of my films, so for me, this experience has been surreal. I am proud to have had my share in Hollywood,” adds Ali.

Currently busy shooting in Cape Town, South Africa, for film-maker Mahesh Bhatt’s upcoming production, Ali also had members of his own crew coming up to him and talking about the experience he had while working on the American production.
