My parents were scared when I joined Bollywood: Kriti Sanon
Actor Kriti Sanon says that just like most middle-class parents, her parents were also apprehensive when she decided to become an actor.
Kriti Sanon is grateful to her parents for supporting her career choice. However, the actor shares that they were initially apprehensive about their daughter entering Bollywood. “When I told them that I wanted to act, they agreed. They believed in me and they wanted me to follow my heart, but they were protective and scared like most middle-class parents,” says Sanon, who made her debut with Heropanti (2014).

The actor says that her security was their major concern. “We know that acting is not like a regular nine to five job. So, they were concerned. But they never stopped me,” she says. The actor says that only because of her parents’ support she has been able to do what she always wanted to do. “People often face pressure (from their family) and they have to give up what they want to do. But my parents stood by me. They get super thrilled every time Heropanti or Dilwale comes on TV,” she says.
Sanon says that her parents also understand that since she is a public figure now, there will be rumours and link-up speculations. “They know the truth behind all the rumours and link-ups. They realise that it’s a part and parcel of the industry,” she says.
