Nudes removed from Kat’s entry scene
When the cast of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara arrived at the shooting location, it was flooding with nudists. Every time the filmmaker tried taking a shot, nudists kept walking in to the frame in the background. But to avoid censor trouble, Zoya Akhtar turned nudists away from Spanish beach before Katrina’s entry scene.
When Zoya Akhtar went to Lloret De Mar, Costa Brava, a nude beach in Spain, for reconnaissance eight months ago, she didn’t anticipate a problem. With hardly a soul on the beach, it was the perfect location to shoot Katrina Kaif’s introductory scene for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

But when the cast including Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol arrived, on the day of shoot, it was flooding with nudists. And since it was tourist season in Spain, every time the filmmaker tried taking a shot, nudists kept walking in to the frame in the background.

“In the beginning, the entire crew felt awkward as they were properly dressed and felt odd amongst rest of the crowd. But Zoya was persistent and wanted to capture the beach,” says a source from the unit.
Worried about what the Censor Board would make of the situation if some bare bodies were noticed in the film, Zoya remained doubly careful. The director personally ensured that no one walked into the frame while they were filming the scene. “Soon, the crew got used to the drill, but it still took about three days to finish shooting the entire sequence,” adds the source.
Calling it “quite a task” Zoya adds, “We did not want to go under the scanner of the Censor Board. So, I had kept the entire crew on high alert to keep away the nudists, who were getting in the frame. But I’m really happy that we finally got what we wanted.” The film releases on July 15.
