Ranbir Kapoor accepts the challenge to lip-sync in Sanju song Main Badhiya. Watch video
At the recent trailer launch of the film, Ranbir Kapoor revealed how Sanjay Dutt has always been a hero to him.
After creating a buzz with the film’s trailer, the makers of Sanju have released the first song from the film. Titled Main Badhiya, Tu Hi Badhiya, the song sees Sanjay Dutt, played by Ranbir Kapoor, lip syncing to different voices.
Sonam Kapoor, who is playing Sanjay Dutt’s girlfriend in the film, tweeted the song Sunday morning.
It starts with Ranbir accepting the challenge thrown by Sunil Dutt to lip-sync to a song. It then introduces Sonam’s character. They take the song forward.
Voiced by Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam, the song is a simple number with a focus on creating nostalgia about Dutt’s life. The nasal touch by the singers is an attempt to give it the ’60s feel when it was permanent fixture in songs by singers like KL Saigal and Geeta Dutt.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Sanju is a biopic on Dutt’s colourful life. Ranbir, who has matched Dutt’s mannerism to perfection, said at the trailer launch that he would like to impress Dutt with his act. He said, “I know I never can be the man he is, but in whichever way that I go about in my career as a person and even through this film, I really want Sanju sir to like me because I feel that he is man that I respect a lot and I really look up to him. I hope that he feels that I have represented his life in a very honest and improved way.”
Sanju, which also stars Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal and Manisha Koirala in important roles, is scheduled to hit the screens on June 29, 2018.
