“This time we will wrap up the movie,” says Alia Bhatt about the next schedule of her film with director Gauri Shinde.(Hindustan Times)

In 2014, film-maker Karan Johar revealed that Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will be coming together in director Ayan Mukerji’s superhero film. At that time, the news had generated a lot of buzz in the industry. However, of late, several rumours have been suggesting that the film has been shelved.

But Alia says “there is no truth” to such reports. “I would ideally not clarify such baseless rumours, but since I have been asked to, let me put the record straight. It hasn’t been shelved. The pre-production work is on in full swing. We will definitely be starting the film by the end of this year. It is a very exciting project,” says the young actor, who will soon resume work on film-maker Gauri Shinde’s next. “This time we will wrap up the movie,” she adds.

What about the reports that claim that Alia will be seen in Aashiqui 3 opposite Sidharth Malhotra? “The only thing I can say is that when I do take up a film with my father (Mahesh Bhatt), and under our family banner [that produced Aashiqui and Aashiqui 2], it is going to be very special. And when I do a love story with Sid again, it’s going to be equally special. So, I will leave such a ‘special’ conversation for some other time (laughs),” says Alia.

The Bollywood actor will be seen opposite Varun Dhawan in director Shashank Khaitan’s next film, which is being produced by Karan Johar. “It is fantastic, because they (Karan’s production house) get into the love story space fantastically well,” she adds.
