Sara Ali Khan, daughter of actor Saif Ali Khan from his first wife Amrita Singh, has been around for a while now and speculations have been rife about her debut film, which was said to be Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year 2. But, reportedly the 23-year-old star daughter will mark her entry into films with a love story to be directed by filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor aka Gattu, who has helmed films such as Fitoor (2016) and Rock On!! (2008) fame. And according to the grapevine, Sara will star opposite actor Sushant Singh Rajput in her debut film.
The film will be produced by Ekta Kapoor. DNA quoted a source [close to Ekta’s production house] as saying, “Gattu wanted a fresh pairing for his film. He decided to cast Saif’s daughter as the female lead in the film. The team has met Sara and she has liked the script. She is most likely to come on board within two weeks. Ekta is very close to Sara’s mom Amrita Singh. In fact, Ekta revived her career on the small screen when she wanted to return to acting. Amrita was also seen in Ekta’s production, A Flying Jatt, as Tiger Shroff’s mom. Amrita trusts her [Ekta] to launch her daughter, and has given her blessings to this project.”
Meanwhile, Sushant, who was keen on working with Abhishek, again after Kai Po Che (2013), is looking forward to working on the film with debutante Sara. The source also shared that the project is expected to go on floors in 2018.
In the past, there were reports that Karan was grooming Sara to launch her in the sequel to SOTY. Later, rumours surfaced that actor Salman Khan was planning to launch Sara opposite brother-in-law Aayush Sharma in his production. Also, Sara’s recent dinner date with Harshvardhan Kapoor also sparked rumours that she may make her debut in Bollywood opposite the Mirzya actor.
