Salman Khan vs Arijit Singh 2.0: The actor wants singer’s song removed from Welcome To New York?
Apparently, the makers wanted to keep a song in Arijit’s voice in the film that also has a cameo by Salman Khan. Arijit recorded the rough version, but it was rejected by Khan.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan isn’t one to forget and forgive easily, and who would know it better than singer Arijit Singh. As per reports, Salman has asked the makers of Welcome To New York to not use any of Arijit’s songs.

Apparently, the makers wanted to keep a song in Arijit’s voice in the film that also has a cameo by Salman. Arijit recorded the rough version, but it was rejected by the actor.
Spotboye.com, quoting a source close to the film, said, “Arijit has sung the rough scratch of the track which was to be used in the film. However, Salman was quite miffed and he told the makers, ‘Anyone in the fraternity could croon the track but Arijit.’”
The root of Salman’s problem with Arijit dates back to 2014 when Arijit was called on to the stage for felicitation by him during an award show. On reaching the stage, Arijit said, “Aap logon ne toh sula diya (you put us to sleep)”.
To that, Salman replied, “Aur isme humara koi dosh nahi hai, agar aise gaane bajte rahenge…” and hummed the tune of Arijit’s Tum Hi Ho.
Later, it was revealed that Salman pressurised the makers of Kick and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo to remove Arijit’s already recorded songs from the album.
Something similar happened with 2016 film Sultan as well. Salman once again Arijit’s song removed from the film. A sad Arijit wrote on Facebook, “Please do not remove the song that I sang for you in Sultan… I want to retire with at least one song of you keeping in my library. Please do not take away this feeling.”
He deleted the post after a while.
Now, with this new song in Welcome To New York, the tussle between the two has been revived. It’s hard to say who is more at loss: Arijit Singh, whose golden voice is liked by millions, or Salman, whose stardom may get Arijit new fans.
Welcome To New York will hit the screens on February 23, 2018. The film has Diljit Dosanjh and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles.
