This year’s two big Diwali releases — Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) and Son Of Sardaar (SOS) — might be embroiled in a bitter clash. But Abbas-Mustan’s Race 2 is making the most of the situation. Starting today (November 13), the trailer of the director duo’s action-thriller will be screened along with both the films. “Instead of attaching the promo separately with the prints of the movies, which is a very tedious process, producer Ramesh Taurani just got in touch with the theatre owners directly,” says an insider close to the makers.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s JTHJ and Ajay Devgn’s SOS have opened in theatres today with over 3,500 prints put together. When contacted, Taurani confirms the news, saying, “We didn’t have to go out of our way for this, because theatre owners already know we make good films. We’re sure it will help create some buzz around Race 2.”

Before hitting the theatres, the trailer was first uploaded on the Internet at midnight on Monday. Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor will reprise their roles in the sequel to the 2008 suspense thriller. The new star cast includes John Abraham, Deepika Padukone,Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel. The film is expected to release around January 2013.
