She takes over from Mallika Sherawat in the sequel to the 2006 hit Pyaar Ke Side Effects. And even as Vidya Balan gears up to star in Shaadi Ke Side Effects, the makers are apparently planning a “never-seen-before hot housewife” look for her.
For the uninitiated, instead of Mallika and Rahul Bose, the film — that shows the post-marriage life of characters Trisha and Sid — will have Vidya and Farhan Akhtar playing the lead.
And although rumours suggest that the makers are looking at one of Vidya’s earlier photo shoots as a reference point for the look of her character, producer Pritish Nandy says, “I must admit it’s a very nice picture. They have done the shoot in an interesting manner. But Vidya’s look won’t be exactly like that. It will be much more original.”
Ask Nandy if they have created a dummy poster — that’s doing the rounds already — with that picture and he clarifies: “No, we have not created a poster. Apparently, one of the fans assembled those pictures to create the poster. And since we are still working out the look, we did see it.”
While Nandy remains noncommittal, it’s believed that makers will have an elaborate screen test with Vidya and Farhan around September. “I can’t talk about it right now since we are still in the process of defining her look for the film. But let me assure you, it will be unlike anything we have seen,” he says.
But since Vidya’s housewife avatar comes after the blockbuster, The Dirty Picture (2011) that saw her in a sultry look, how difficult is it going to be to create a unique appearance this time? “That’s the magic of our film. If we tell you everything now, there will be no thrill to watch out for,” says Nandy.
