West Bengal textbook identifies Farhan Akhtar as Milkha Singh, actor points out error

Actor Farhan Akhtar tweeted about an error in a West Bengal textbook that used his photo from biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to depict athlete Milkha Singh. The actor had played the Flying Sikh’s role in the 2013 biopic. In the tweet, addressed to West Bengal’s Minister of School Education, Farhan requested that the books be recalled and replaced.
Farhan took cognisance of a person’s tweet who originally pointed out the error. The woman attached a picture of the textbook and wrote, “Image of @FarOutAkhtar is portrayed as milkha singh in west bengal text book. not at all shocked. its became regular incident here @ShefVaidya @ShankhNaad.”

Farhan urged West Bengal’s Minister of School Education to replace the textbook. He wrote, “To the Minister of School Education, West Bengal. There is a glaring error with the image used in one of the school textbooks to depict Milkha Singh-ji. Could you please request the publisher to recall and replace this book? Sincerely.”
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was based on Singh’s life, an Indian athlete who was a champion runner and first Indian to qualify for Olympic finals. The film also starred Divya Dutta, Meesha Shafi, Pavan Malhotra and Art Malik in supporting roles.
On the work front, Farhan Akhtar will be next seen in Shonali Bose’s debut directorial The Sky Is Pink, alongside Priyanka Chopra.
