Love conquers all. One could add that friendship too conquers all and nobody proves it as well as Karan Johar and Kajol. The best of friends, had a bitter fight a few years back, but have since buried the hatchet and are back to being best buddies.

No wonder, when the trailer of Kajol’s upcoming film, Helicopter Eela, was unveiled on Sunday (Aug 5, which was also her birthday), among the first persons to share it on their timeline was filmmaker Karan Johar.

Sharing it, he wrote: “Kajol is stunning and absolutely wonderful as ever!!!! Lights up the screen in every frame of this lovely trailer! Great tone and seems like a fun and emotional watch!”

Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, Helicopter Eela stars Kajol as a single mother to a 15-year-old son. She decides to resume her studies all over again and ends up joining her son in college. Much of the film is about an overbearing mother who must let go of her ‘hold’ over her only child and find her mojo back. She also plays an aspiring singer in the film.

Back to Karan and Kajol, the two are Bollywood’s second-generation star kids; he is the son of film producer Yash Joahr while she is the daughter of Tanuja (herself a star kid and the daughter of the veteran actor Shobana). Karan and Kajol have not only been good friends since their childhood, they have been good collaborators at work too. Together, they have delivered some of the biggest blockbusters of Hindi cinema like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and My Name Is Khan.

However, matters turned nasty a couple of years back when their respective productions, Karan’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay clashed at the box office in 2016. In a video message, Ajay had accused Karan of paying Rs 25 lakh to sabotage his film. Naturally, it didn’t go down well with Karan and the relationship took a nose dive.

Speaking about the incident, Karan wrote in his biography of how it was completely over for him when Kajol shared Ajay’s said video and tweeted about it.

However, time does heal wounds. Sometime in 2017, the powerful duo of Bollywood began to mend ways, Kajol first ‘liked’ an Instagram post of Karan’s twins, Yash and Roohi and later followed it up by inviting him to her private birthday party. Karan too seemed to have responded to the goodwill gesture when he shared pictures of the most important people in his life which included Kajol.

Years of love....years of movies....memories forever.... @kajol @iamsrk ❤️
