“To view life in technicolour, you have to turn the negative into positive,” believes actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi. Not a shocker then that she follows the same mantra to make her life picture perfect.

The ever-evolving Sagittarian has now penned her first book. Titled Swapnalok Society —The Summer of Cool, the novel is set in the genre of magical realism.

Excerpts from an interview with the lady.

You have experimented with painting, acting and singing. Now, writing. Where does your real calling lie?
It lies in different forms of creativity. I like to express myself in different ways and find gratification in all.

What was the inspiration for Swapnalok Society—The Summer of Cool?
It is based largely on my growing years. It was late last year when the idea for the book took shape. In six weeks, I had the first draft with me. The book draws inspiration from the various people in my life. Many of my friends will find resemblances in the book.

What is the book all about?
It is the story of an urban utopia.

So, what will keep you busy for the next six months?
Lots of things. Swapnalok Society…is one book in a four-part series. The second book in the series is based on a short story that my daughter, Kaveri wrote.

Once the four part series is penned, what is the next big step that you plan to take?
I want to convert my books into movies.
