For some strange reason a group of people are under the impression that they possess the ability to control the life of a certain Mister Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. By creating twitter hashtags and anti Sachin facebook pages people hope to put enough pressure on the Master Blaster to reconsider his decision to become a Rajya Sabha MP…..YEAH RIGHT.

Apparently Sachin is the wrong choice. Ever since news broke that the great man is now a Rajya Sabha MP he has been called a "thief", "hypocrite", "liar" , "stooge of the Congress party" , "traitor" ,etc. I've read a number of cuss words showered freely on the greatest cricketer in the world as if he were some sort of heinous criminal.

Because he gets to become an MP? Well if you don't want an honest gentleman with an exemplary record as a professional, the best in the world at what he does, an inspirational figure adored by millions across the world, worshipped by an entire country and appreciated as a genuinely awesome person who has carried the batting of this country sometimes singlehandedly for 23 years then who do you want?

The scam tainted, bail hopping, uneducated douche bag criminal who now masquerades as an MP? Well we already have those and things for us haven't worked out that great with these types of people in charge, just in case you haven't noticed.

No one expects Tendulkar to usher in a revolution. At a press conference Sachin himself said that he is a sportsperson not a politician so what's the big deal then? It's not like he's going to stop playing cricket to endure the rigors of the Indian parliamentary procedure. Some might argue that this is precisely why he should not be an MP. Maybe, but there is a Constitutional provision to nominate eminent people in their field to the Upper House and that is what has happened.

Nonetheless why should Sachin be chastised for accepting the nomination and why should his standing be questioned? Surely this is a man who deserves the honor.

Like I said recently the problem is not with Sachin getting into politics. The problem starts if the Politics gets into Sachin.
