India’s favourite comedians share the one line that always works on stage
Five comedians tell us the one quick joke that never fails to get their audience rolling on the floor
1. Gyaan from the mothers- Vasu Primlani
Mothers are forever the savage icons when it comes to humour. When I was young, my mom told me, “If anyone ever kidnaps you, they will return you in three days and pay me to take you back.” Thanks to her, I can walk fearlessly across any city in the world.
2. The Bollywood stimulus- Cyrus Broacha
The key is choosing the right actress’ reference. Mistake her appearance for a second, then apologise to make it believable. “Are you Priyanka Chopra? Oh I am sorry, the resemblance is uncanny.” And voila! You’re done.
3. Nailing factual humour- Amit Tandon
“Produced by Mother, directed by Wife” is no doubt my favorite line. So popular is the joke that it has also become a WhatsApp forward. Comedy is simply a shared sense of insight and relatability. When you master that, you master any state.
4.Did you say cheese?- Sahil Shah
For me, there are some pick-up lines that are instant winners. The best one being – “Are you a peacock? Because when I see you I want Mor.”
5. Momzone’s the word- Kaneez Surka
I want to be a mom so bad that when I’m on a date and it’s not going well, I don’t friend zone the guy – I ‘mom zone’ him, I’m like “please finish your food and text me when you get home.” You’re out of it without emotional overflow.
