Direct tax collections up 6.5% in Apr-Aug

The gross direct tax collections during April-August period was up by 6.5% at Rs. 164,000 crore against Rs. 154,000 crore in the same period last year.

The gross direct tax collections during April-August period was up by 6.5% at Rs. 164,000 crore against Rs. 154,000 crore in the same period
last year.

Corporate taxes collection showed an increase of 0.2%, which stood at Rs. 96,738 crore. Gross personal income tax collection was up by 17.1% at Rs. 67,420 crore against Rs. 57.582 crore in the same period last year.

Net direct tax collections was up by 28.2% and stood at Rs. 124,000 crore as compared to Rs. 96,738 crore for the same period in the last fiscal.

The growth in wealth tax was 40.6% and stood at Rs. 225 crore against Rs. 160 crore.
